No fishing yet

The weather has been terrible here for 2 weeks. I had to work all weekend but that was ok as it rained and all the water around here is HIGH and MUDDY. Maybe the yucky weather will move out and some fishing can be done. One of my fishing holes was running over like crazy. Maybe it will straighten out soon.

Favorite fishing hole runs over

It has rained about 6 inches in the last two weeks and my favorite fishing hole is 4 feet of water above average and running over the spillway. Maybe it will settled down and some fishing can be done next weekend.

Fishing on Saturday

I went to Elsmore with my toon boat and fished along the dam. I threw every one of my favorite flys and not a strike. Usually a Montana Stonefly will get a small bass or bluegill but not yesterday. The wind was out of the east at 5 when I started but by the time I gave it up my legs were shot from paddling against the wind. I think I will make better use of the anchor next time.

Friday is getting closer

Les sent some pictures tonight. He and Kile are packed and ready for the hike and fishing at Elk City. Looks like the weather will straighten out and they will do OK!

The weekend is coming

On the porch last night the mailman had left Les's new backpacking stoves that I ordered. He and Kile are going to hike the trails and fish on the west side of Elk City Resevoir on Friday. They are young and tough, I am old and fat so I may do a short hike in late Friday to camp and fish. We will see. The weather is improving so maybe there are some fish to be caught.

No fishing for today or tomorrow

No fishing as there is a real BIG low pressure system and with it came the wind from the south at 25-40 mph with higher gusts. I will post a picture of Les my son and one of his fish from last fall at Buffalo lake. It was a dandy bass. and a good fight.

Day off fishing

I fished at Elsmore this afternoon and caught a small bass and a couple small bluegill. My driftboat worked fine. I was wondering if fishing the muddy waters of the Neosho River at home or the murky waters of Elsmore makes me a brownline fisherman. LOL. The water was 52 degrees and murky as we had 6 inches of snow and 2 inches of rain this last week and the lake was up a foot or so. My rod is a 6 ft 2 wt TFO that my son bought for me. The largest bass to date has been 2 pounds and he felt like a whale on the light rod.

Friday off fishing

I have been losing vacation for years as the college where I work will only let us carry so much time so I started taking off every friday and fishing when the weather was decent. I have managed to fish somewhere a couple times a month for the last 18 months. Todays fishing will be at Elsmore lake 21 miles east of Humboldt, KS. Will post more later and pictures if I am lucky enough to catch some fish.
